What is 3D Touch?

3D Touch is a feature found on some Apple iPhones, which allows the device to distinguish between different levels of pressure applied to the touch screen.

It enables users to access different functions and menus depending on how hard they press on the screen. For example, a light touch might preview an email, while a harder touch would open it. The technology uses sensors that detect the pressure and a feedback mechanism that provides tactile responses. However, Apple has discontinued the 3D Touch feature in its newer iPhone models and replaced it with a similar technology called Haptic Touch.
