When comparing various electronics, one question often arises: Is Sony more expensive than Samsung?
They both are multinational companies of the technological sector that deal in a high volume of products, such as TV and smartphones, game consoles, appliances, and sound systems. However, one question would always tend to stick: Is Sony better than Samsung?
This article I shall present my personal view of dynamic pricing of both brands in the different product categories.
I will make a fair comparison of pricing and the value propositions of Sony and Samsung by dissecting such core segments as televisions, smartphones, gaming consoles, and home appliances.
In comparison to Sony and Samsung, the approach to pricing is the first aspect that is worth noting. Sony is a luxury brand, which specializes in the provision of high-quality products and innovation especially in visual technology and in the game segment.
Samsung, on the other hand, has been able to create its own niche by selling a variety of products at various price ranges. This is because Samsung is a more affordable brand to consumers of different budget levels.
To summarize, Sony is more inclined to a scheme of higher pricing of its technological innovations, whereas Samsung has a wider range of products, balancing between price and quality features. At this point, we are going to further explore the performance of these two brands in various product categories.
Televisions are one of the most popular consumer electronics, and both Sony and Samsung offer a wide variety of models. The question is, which one offers more value for your money?
Sony Television
Sony possesses a good brand name, brand Bravia, which will provide best OLED and LED televisions. These televisions are giving us beautiful pictures, color saturation, deep black, and absorption of content.
The case in point is the Sony BRAVIA 8 K-65XR80 OLED which is an expensive television but its image and sound are excellent with a smooth design.
This quality experience comes at a greater price though. In case you are wondering about Sony TV price in Bangladesh, you will realize that these high quality models are rated higher than most of the competitors.
Sony high-end models are costly, however, Sony Bravia models would be worth every nickel because they are the best in the television technology. With a smaller budget, however, Sony may appear to be more expensive than other alternatives.

Samsung Televisions
Nevertheless, Samsung is another brand that is well-known in terms of a large number of QLED and Neo QLED television sets. These models tend to rival with Sony based on its brightness, clarity, and reproduction color, though tend to be cheaper. To illustrate, Samsung 50DU7500 4K UHD HDR offers better picture quality at a cheaper price than other models of Sony.
The Samsung TVs are offered at varying prices, thus making it easier to get a TV that fits the buyer. The truth is that Samsung TV price in Bangladesh differs widely, and mid-range models such as Samsung TU8000 series point at great value and do not imply losing the necessary functions.
Both Sony and Samsung have strong footholds in the smartphone market, but their pricing strategies differ.
Sony Smartphones
The Xperia range, despite the superior features of high-quality camera, OLED technology, and powerful performance, cost more than much of the competition.
The Xperia 1 VII, in particular, captures very good images at a very expensive price, which puts it on the same category as flagships in Samsung, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Xperia brand is not as strong or recognizable as Samsung Galaxy, despite its outstanding quality, and therefore, Sony would struggle to sell these devices to cost-conscious customers.
Samsung Smartphones
Samsung is more diversified in smartphones. The brand includes both affordable models in the Galaxy A line to the flagships such as Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Samsung Galaxy A56 5G, A36 5G series offers excellent value at money, being a magnificent feature and performance with a much lesser cost than Sony flagship products.
Samsung can serve a greater number of consumers with differing budgets and its phones are normally sold at a lower price compared to the Xperia phones of Sony in view of highly featured and tech-savvy devices they are loaded with.
When it comes to gaming, Sony and Samsung both offer great experiences, but in different ways.
Sony PlayStation
The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a video game console manufactured by Sony, and it is retailed in large quantities at an astronomically high price in terms of high processing units, unimaginative graphics, and original games.
Although the gaming technology is better and the games such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon soul are excellent, this game console costs more compared to the other consoles in the market. Also, since PS5 is extremely popular, it is not always possible to find it at an affordable price.
The PS5 is priced in a way that can make it look worthwhile even to a hardcore gamer because of what the console can do and the unique content that they can get.
Nevertheless, to an average gamer, the price of a PlayStation console may be too expensive in comparison to others.
Samsung Gaming Monitors
Although Samsung does not make the gaming consoles, it provides gaming monitors that improve the gaming experience.
The Odyssey line of gaming monitors designed by Samsung boasts of high refresh rates and quick response times and beautiful graphics thus making it a perfect choice to all gamers who desire smooth and immersive performance.
They are also more affordable than the high-end gaming systems that Sony sells.
Both brands are significant players in the home appliance market, offering everything from refrigerators to washing machines, but Samsung tends to dominate this category with its broader selection of products.
Samsung Home Appliances
Other examples of technological innovation include energy-saving designs, smart features that are used to characterize the home appliances (including refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines) that are made by Samsung.
The selection is very broad at Samsung, with more affordable models on one end up to the more costly models that have even more technologically advanced solutions and functionality (including support of smart homes, energy-saving, etc).
As the case in my experience indicates, Samsung home appliances tend to be cheaper than those of Sony.

Sony Home Appliances
Sony has less diversified products, in spite of the fact that it also produces some home appliances, including air purifiers and audio systems.
Within the audio division, Sony is more prone to sell premium products, like one of its soundbars or home theater systems, but in the case of major appliances, like a refrigerator or a cleaning machine, there are not as many products as with Samsung.
The high-end products sold by Sony are also relatively expensive and therefore not as cheap as the Samsung line of home appliances.
| Product Category | Sony Price Range | Samsung Price Range | Key Differences |
| Televisions | High-end (Premium) | Budget to High-end | Sony is premium-priced, Samsung offers more options at varying prices. |
| Smartphones | Premium | Budget to Premium | Samsung offers a broader range of options at various price points. |
| Gaming Consoles | PlayStation 5 (High-End) | No Consoles | Sony leads with premium gaming experiences. |
| Home Appliances | Premium (Limited Range) | Budget to Premium | Samsung offers a wider and more affordable selection. |
Both Sony and Samsung bring unique strengths to the market. Choosing between them depends on your specific needs, preferences, and budget.
Sony is generally expensive when compared to Samsung, especially in the premium classes such as TV and gaming consoles.
However, Samsung has a broader selection of products at different price points, which makes it more accessible for everyone from budget-conscious customers to luxury members.
If you’re all about top quality and don’t mind paying a bit extra for cutting edge technology (such as OLED TVs, unique gaming experiences, or advanced camera systems), then Sony ought to be worth it.
But if you’re looking for a good price-performance balance, Samsung may offer a cheaper and more flexible alternative.
At the end of the day, it mostly comes down to what you want: in terms of features or performance or price.
Not always. Sony offers more premium models, which come with a higher price tag compared to that of Samsung, who have more variety at both the lower and upper ends of spectrum catering for most budgets.
Sony with PlayStation consoles is an undisputed king in gaming console market having really great experience with its best-in-class games. Samsung does not make gaming consoles, but it produces great gaming monitors.
Phones Samsung is generally the smart choice for smartphones, with a range of models available at all price levels (even budget) compared to Apple. Sony’s Xperia phones are upscale, more expensive.
Samsung prices all its QLED and Neo QLED TVs relatively aggressively compared with Sony's higher-end OLED models. But Sony’s TVs are known for great image quality.
Samsung has a wider selection of home appliances on the market from low end to high end, so it's less expensive and diverse. Sony has fewer options, especially in big home appliances like refrigerators and washing machines.
In general, Sony tends to be more costly than Samsung since it specializes in high quality, innovation, and high performance, particularly in TV sets, gaming, and audio devices.
Samsung on the other hand has a variety of products in varying prices making it more affordable to the low-end consumers.
In case you appreciate high-quality performance and are not afraid of paying more, Sony is worth considering. To be more affordable and more varied, it is generally more viable to go Samsung.
